it is considorod that aircraft would be useful for the followin; functions:-

(a) To observe the Frontier and deal, by machine un or bomb, with any attacks on our pickets.

(b) To pursue and attack any arauding parties. (c) To ursue and attack any pirates.

d)In the event of civil disturbances, observe and report any large o lloction of natives, and, if necessary, to disperse them with bombs of mill tear(1) gas.

(e) Transportin; a Police officer or other official to outlying islands, o.g. LANTAN, at high apeed.

(f) Keepin, a good look out for any particular (g) xercise moral effect.

2. Type of auchings required.

In view of the nature of the country, sea- planes are advisablo.

It is thought that the most suitable machine ould be two seaters, 200 to 2400 H.. fitte to carry light bombs, 2 mucnine uns (one fixed and one Lovis gun), and preferably the letter would render a shore set desirable also. ( These chines would be of smaller dimensions and perfomance than the Fairey 1110 seaplanes carried by 11...).

Four machines are suggested.

This number would allow for one, and probably to, being always ready for service.
